  • Responsibilities

    The Tenant Support Aide works within a collaborative building team in order to respond to the home maintenance needs of tenants impacted by mental health, substance use, and physical disability. This position works to support housing stability for vulnerable tenants underserved by existing funded chore services due to primary disability of mental health and substance use. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    SUPPORTIVE AND COMMUNITY SERVICES

    • Create respectful and trusting relationships with tenants.
    • Provide support for tenants challenged by the home maintenance standards needed for comfort, dignity, and subsidy compliance.
    • Participate in assessment process with Building Team to discern tenants who require more extensive intervention.
    • Clean rooms and do laundry for tenants who are unable to do so themselves.
    • Assist staff with community activities and actively encourage tenants to participate.
    • Support Building Team as needed in various capacities such as arranging for transportation for tenants, driving company vehicle on a weekly basis to deliver welcome baskets and food bags, participating in moves, and covering front desk.

     

    COLLABORATIVE

    • Work collaboratively with all Plymouth departments to uphold the agency mission.
    • Participate in regular meetings with social services and building management team members to collaboratively increase stability and retention of tenants.
    • Provide back-up to building team as needed.
    • Participate in Plymouth committees and workgroups as appropriate.

     

    QUALITATIVE

    • Promote a trusting tenant/staff relationship wherein tenants are encouraged to provide honest feedback regarding the service.

                                        

     

    ADMINISTRATIVE

    • Attend an initial orientation and subsequent training sessions throughout employment.
    • Manage time and prioritize duties in order to provide necessary services to tenants.
    • Maintain service records, documenting interventions and engagements.
    • Complete other records and reports appropriate to the position as directed by the Social Services Program Manager.
    • Assist and support tenants with annual Tenant Satisfaction Survey process.
    • Attend and participate in scheduled supervision and team meetings to discuss tenant issues and general program issues and goals. Attends other meetings and in-service trainings as requested.
    • Follow program and agency policies and procedures. Provides input to program policies, procedures and goals, as requested.
    • Read materials as requested.

    • Fulfill other duties as directed by the Social Services Program Manager

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    (Any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience.)

     

    Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

     

    Experience: Two (2) years experience working as a chore worker, preferably with low-income, diverse, homeless, and special needs clients.

     

    Licensure/Certification: Valid Washington State Driver License and driving record acceptable to Plymouth insurance providers.

     

    Other Qualifications:

    • Able to communicate effectively with staff members and tenants.
    • Able to work cooperatively in partnership with community agencies and resources.
    • Good knowledge of health and safety procedures.
    • Ability to be flexible, supportive and to work cooperatively with staff as a member of a multi-disciplinary and diverse team.
    • Able to work a 40-hour work week.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office applications; particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
    • Must be able to read, write and understand English.
    • Must demonstrate strict attention to detail.
    • Employment history that demonstrates reliability and dependability.
    • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience inputting data into a database.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and construction equipment; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock where employee must utilize the proper personal protective equipment and/or other safeguards for their protection.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
