EOETitle: Accountant IReports To: Chief Financial OfficerFLSA: Temporary / part-time position, 24-28 hours/week available. Remote and flexible work schedule available. Ideally, employee is available to work from May 1st through July 15th.Job Description: This position will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to assist in preparing and analyzing financial statements, budgets, completes general ledger reconciliations, aids in internal and external audits. All employees will uphold our mission, vision, and values.Responsibilities:• Prepares accounting entries by compiling and analyzing account information.• Summarizes current financial status by collecting information, preparing Statement of Activities and Statement of Financial Position and other reports.• Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.• Maintains accounting controls by following, preparing, and recommending policies and procedures.• Works with accounting administrative staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.• Reconciles asset, liabilities, revenue, and expenses accounts.• Maintains financial security by following internal controls.• Prepares fiscal reports for grants.• Conducts internal audits as needed.• Constructs Excel spreadsheets as needed.• Maintains client, vendor, and employee confidence by keeping financial information confidential.• May assist in budget preparation.• May assist in external audit activities.• Assist CFO as needed.Core Competencies:• Functional/Technical Skills• Patience• Priority Setting• Problem Solving• Quality of Work Output• Technical Learning• Timeliness of Delivery & OutputKnowledge and Abilities:• Financial reporting skills with accounting software and Excel• Attention to detail• Deadline oriented• Confidentiality• Time management• Work independently• Satisfactory completion of all background checks and references***Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimal of five years’ experience; non-profit accounting experience preferredPhysical Demands of the Job: These essential tasks may be performed with or without accommodations or assistive technology.
