Job Description
The Community Education Coordinator plays a key role in making cycling and active transportation accessible through community-focused education and outreach. This full-time position is responsible for coordinating and leading hands-on bike classes, managing logistics, communicating with participants and volunteers, and supporting public engagement events.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, a confident communicator, and comfortable teaching in a group setting. They should be passionate about creating inclusive, empowering experiences for beginner riders. This role requires regular evening and weekend availability to support class schedules and public events. While these hours can be flexed with time off during the standard workweek, candidates should expect to support up to four evening or weekend events per month, with occasional stretches of heavier activity during peak seasons.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and lead bike education classes, including on-bike instruction
- Manage logistics for classes and events (venues, equipment, communications, scheduling)
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers
- Set up and maintain bikes, gear, and other class materials; transport program equipment as needed
- Serve as a point of contact for class participants and volunteers before, during, and after sessions
- Promote programming through email, social media, and local outreach
- Represent Trailblazers at community events and help organize pop-up activations, group rides, or outreach efforts
- Track participation and support post-class reporting and follow-up
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment
- Contribute to class evaluations and provide feedback to support continuous improvement
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Experience in community outreach, education, recreation, or similar fields
- Passion for inclusive mobility, public health, and active transportation
- Confident leading small groups and facilitating inclusive public programming
- Experience coordinating events or supporting volunteers
- Proven organizational and time-management skills; solution-oriented and able to meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and a customer-service mindset
- Patient and flexible in adapting to changes in schedules or priorities
- Able to assess basic bike safety and perform or coordinate minor maintenance tasks
- Familiarity with tools like Eventbrite, Canva, and Microsoft Office, a plus
- Available to work some evenings/weekends and travel across Northwest Arkansas
- Valid Arkansas driver's license, clean driving record, and proof of insurability (Trailblazers provides vehicles for work-related travel)
- Ability to drive a truck and trailer, or willingness to learn
- Bilingual in Spanish/English, a plus
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand or move for extended periods during classes and events
- Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs (e.g., bikes, gear, event equipment)
- Must be able to travel to program sites and community locations across the region
