  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Our Social Workers are responsible for the social assessment of all adolescent patients, prenatal patients, and HIV positive patients; and for intervention on behalf of any other patient who requests or is referred for social work services. Responsibility also includes the mutual development and implementation of a patient-centered plan designed to strengthen the life skills of that individual.

    With emphasis on:

    • Decisions regarding family planning which best suit the patient’s own needs, desires and values in relation to their sexuality and their reproductive health;

    • Development of healthy behaviors which promote positive health outcomes and reduces the risks and incidences of STDs, HIV and unplanned pregnancy;

    • Connecting patients to concrete and community based services directed at the expansion of the individual’s opportunities and minimization of the adverse effects of social determinants of health.

    • Identification and education of abuse (child, domestic, sexual, substance) for the purpose of prevention and, when necessary, for protection with special attention paid to minors involved in sexual relationships with adults.

    Social workers will be expected to participate in the on-going development of the social work department through dialogue and through their assessments of the structure of service delivery.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    An additional expectation of social workers with advanced degrees (MSW, MS) may include:

    · More in depth clinical practice

    · Program development

    · Supervisory responsibilities

    · Management responsibilities

    · Training assignments, field instruction

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    · Ability to work both independently and cooperatively to meet the goals and objectives of the program.

    · Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    · Familiarity with group dynamics and individual counseling.

    · Experience in field of human sexuality, including family planning desirable.

    · Familiarity with adolescent populations and knowledge of adolescent development helpful.

    · Strong interpersonal skills.

    · Ability to foster the team work approach.

    · Conduct field visits as required.

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIRED:

    • Licensed Master Social Worker.
    • 2 years experience plus.
    • Bilingual Spanish.
