INTAKE COUNSELOR JOB SUMMARY

As an Intake Counselor you will be responsible for the intake, enrollment, and orientation of clients at our 24-hour OTP. You will also keep accurate documentation of all interactions and assist in the development of each individual's behavioral health service plan and work with treatment team to transition clients to maintenance treatment or to other OTPs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes the following; other duties may be assigned)

Complete intake and enrollment, and orients client to treatment program

Assists in development of behavioral health service plan

Documents interactions with first time client in client records

Schedule follow-up appointments for clients or work to facilitate transfer into regular OTPs

COMPETENCIES

Experience in crisis management, and suicide and behavioral risk assessment

Experience in substance abuse rehabilitation and medication assisted treatment

Strong organizational skills

Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills

Required sensitivity to the needs of those who are chemically dependent.

Culturally competent and sensitive to client individualized treatment needs

Ability to participate as an effective and efficient team member

Ability to interact with clients in a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner

Ability to identify and access community resources

QUALIFICATIONS

Behavioral Health Technician or behavioral health professional

Bachelor's degree in behavioral health, social work, or other related field

Minimum one year of experience in behavioral health or substance abuse

Familiarity with medication assisted treatment

Bilingual a plus

Available Shift: 4:00 AM - 4:00 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday
