About the Role
We are hiring a Community Outreach Specialist for a contract role in the Long Beach area.
This role is for someone who is highly personable, socially confident, and good at building trust face to face. We are looking for someone who can become a real word-of-mouth connector in the right communities.
The strongest candidates will already have ties to Long Beach-area harbor, waterfront, port-related, logistics, labor-adjacent, or other working communities, or be genuinely well positioned to get connected in those environments.
This role requires someone who is comfortable showing up in person, starting conversations, building rapport, and becoming a known and trusted presence over time.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships in person
- Start conversations and develop trust through face-to-face outreach
- Make warm introductions where appropriate
- Identify the right people, environments, and relationship pathways
- Maintain follow-up with contacts and continue building rapport over time
- Represent the organization professionally in the field and in meetings as needed
- Help us get connected to the communities most relevant to this work

- Highly personable and comfortable talking to new people in person
- Strong social instincts and people skills
- Confident, outgoing, and comfortable building rapport quickly
- Comfortable with face-to-face outreach and relationship-building
- Able to work independently and take initiative
- Professional, dependable, and responsive
- Strong judgment about how to approach people and build trust
- Comfortable building real-world relationships through consistent in-person follow-through
Preferred Background
This role may be a strong fit for someone with existing ties in:
- harbor or waterfront communities
- port-related or logistics circles
- labor-adjacent or union-family communities
- Long Beach, San Pedro, or Wilmington local networks
- admin, dispatch, office, support, or community-facing roles connected to these communities
This role may be a strong fit for people with experience in:
- club or event promotion
- brand ambassador or street team work
- field marketing or grassroots outreach
- hospitality, nightlife, or venue hosting
- outside sales or business development
- community liaison or referral-based relationship work
- member-facing, front desk, or other highly social relationship-based roles

Compensation
Starting at $2,850, depending on experience and fit.
