Community School Coordinator

The Community School Coordinator at Asheville Middle School is part of UWABC’s Community Schools team and works 4 of 5 days onsite at Asheville Middle School. The Coordinator works in concert with the school principal, parents, community leaders and other UWABC staff to promote the school’s vision and the school improvement plan through strengthening the four pillars of an effective community school while holding true to UWABC’s long-term strategic vision.
Position is responsible for supporting student academic achievement by addressing barriers to necessary services and supports, promoting active family and community engagement, and enabling more efficient and effective use of key resources.

Facilitate a Community School Assets and Needs Assessment
Resource Team and Supports
Support the School’s Student Success Planning Team
Support Student Achievement
Support School Faculty and Staff
Engage and Support Parents and Families
Serve as an active member of the Asheville Buncombe United for Youth (U4Y) Network
Partnerships, Data Evaluation, and Continuous Quality Improvement

This position is exempt from overtime regulations. Typical work hours at the school are 7:30 AM-4:00 PM but may vary each week depending upon evening (and sometimes weekend) family and community engagement events.
Reports To: School Partnerships Manager
Supervises: 1 or more interns
Hours: 40/week
Salary and Benefits: $48,000 to 53,560 annually plus full benefits, including: paid vacation, sick and personal leave; employer contributions to 401(k); contributions to health, dental and vision insurance benefits; self-care fund, life and disability insurance; and coaching and support.
UWABC pays for 100% of employee medical, dental, vision, group term life, short/long-term disability premiums and the majority of dependent premiums. Health Reimbursement Account also provided by UWABC.
