    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Swift is an 80,000 square foot 2.5 acre commercial and community campus in Hartford's North End neighborhood. The campus was conceived and built by the community, for the community, and comprises commercial kitchens, a community business center, oces, a small K-1 school, an individual and family counseling facility, and much more.     The Custodian at Swift will work with the SWIFT and NNPI (Northeast Neighborhood Partnership Inc.) team to ensure the newly renovated Swift campus is presented in its very best light at all times, working to keep our building systems functioning, our spaces cleaned, our grounds and buildings maintained. We're looking for someone who enjoys interacting with people, and would be comfortable assisting and interacting with tenants. We're looking for someone who can care for our campus with the same passion and pride they would have for their own home.     DEFINING SUCCESS FOR THIS POSITION:

    Good interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to operate cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment, handyman and light maintenance, use of maintenance tools and equipment used in daily work; some ability in simple record keeping.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Candidates must have adequate physical strength and stamina to lift, push and/or pull at least 50 lbs., Must have visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical tness as to be able to perform the duties of this role. May occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Performs custodial and maintenance duties including to keep all interior areas of the campus clean, to perform routine maintenance, and to keep the grounds maintained, including but not limited to the responsibilities listed below.

    CLEANING:

    Kitchens - cleans commercial kitchens and kitchen equipment daily in accordance with our SSOP.

    Bathrooms - complete cleaning and sanitizing

    Floors - mopping, vacuuming, bung

    Fixtures - clean and polish

    Dusting including high dusting

    Detail cleaning

    Removal of trash and recycling to approved areas

    Window cleaning

    Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies

    Maintain cleaning equipment as needed

    Routine Building Maintenance & Inspections:

    Performs and logs daily inspections of the campus

    Light handyman services

    Changing light bulbs, painting, changing lters, minor repairs

    Perform routine, operator-level maintenance, and inspections of primary building systems

    Coordinate third-party maintenance of primary building systems

    GROUNDS MAINTENANCE:

    Mowing lawn and weeding with provided equipment

    Maintaining garden beds and mulching

    Litter pick up

    Perform weather related grounds clean-up as needed, including but not limited to light snow removal with provided equipment

    Event Setup/ Moving/ Shipping & Receiving:

    Tenant Move-in and Move Out

    Function room set up and breakdown

    Moving tables and chairs, furniture between buildings as needed and for events.

    Meet with events coordinators for planning and execution of special events.

    Receive packages and supplies for operations and tenants

    TENANT INTERFACING:

    Positively engaging with tenants throughout the day, and elding requests for service if necessary. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

    Professional Experience and Qualifications:

    Current or recent custodial, mechanical, handyman, construction, or cleaning experience is a must.

    Food business experience a plus

    ServeSafe certication a plus and will be required within 30 days of start date.

    Landscaping and or food business experience a plus

    Current resident of Hartford's North End is preferred.

    Ability to function independently while operating eectively within a team environment.

    SALARY RANGE:

    The salary for this position is $16 per hour and will be based upon experience.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    This is a part-time position located at the Swift Factory in North Hartford, CT.

    This position works closely with and reports directly to Property Manager and Administrative Coordinator in managing all of the above mentioned responsibilities. Some weekends and on-call may be required, with overtime potential, but generally this position is on site Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM.
