    Job Description

    The 2019-20 INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY SUMMER ASSOCIATE will join our internal legal department for the 2019 summer and 2019-20 school year where you can showcase your knowledge of computer technologies while refining your legal skill set. This role will focus on our patent development program initiatives and also provide exposure to a wide range of other legal activities. You will be joining a team that prides themselves in being high-performing, diligent, and motivated to improve our business while working together on a daily basis in a fun, friendly environment.

    As a Summer Associate, you will work closely with Commvault’s legal team as well as our in-house stakeholders and outside counsel. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of personal achievement and be passionate about computing.  

    HOW YOU WILL MAKE YOUR MARK AT COMMVAULT:

    •  Assisting in-house attorneys with patent prosecution tasks to protect Commvault’s products and services worldwide •  Working directly with internal teams to identify new inventions •  Conducting prior art searches •  Identifying strategic business value and market dynamics associated with various technologies and competing products •  Providing general support for IP litigation, open source licensing, special projects, and other departmental matters

    To apply, you must possess the following qualifications:

    •  The ability to work at least ten consecutive weeks full-time during the 2019 summer and at least one day per week during the 2019-20 academic year at our headquarters in Tinton Falls, New Jersey •  BS and/or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience in the software field •  Completed at least two semesters prior to June 2019 at an ABA-approved law school •  Superior academic credentials •  Excellent written and spoken English •  Strong attention to accuracy and detail in all aspects of responsibilities •  Exceptional professionalism, communication, personal integrity, and interpersonal skills •  Flexibility to accept diverse challenges in a fast-paced high-tech environment •  A positive attitude, a dynamic personality, and a creative spirit
