    ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco's homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.

    ABOUT THE TEAM: Compass Children's Center (CCC) is an early childhood education center with a curriculum tailored to meet the specific needs of children experiencing poverty and homelessness. The Center serves 70 children, ages 0-5, and their families each day, and addresses the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of the children, as well as the functioning and well-being of the families.

    SALARY: $130,000 - $140,000 annually

    SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Exact schedule will vary  but candidates should be available to work between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm depending on the needs of the clients.

    WHAT THE SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST WILL DO:  The Speech-Language Pathologist helps children ages 0-5 at Compass Children's Center who are struggling with communication. They perform evaluations, provide therapy, educate parents, and provide clinical support to the children and families at CCC.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for CCC students, ages 0-5
    • Partner with family members, teachers, administrators, and other professionals to design holistic treatments
    • Provide support and advice to teachers and family members
    • Compile extensive notes on patients' progress; adjust therapies and treatment plans when needed
    • Support teachers to implement speech and language goals on children's IFSP/IEP's
    • Maintain and update all required documentation, including medical records
    • Establish networks with other speech language pathologists and healthcare professionals by attending regular conferences and events
    • Stay up to date on developments in speech language pathology and in the broader medical field

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's (ASHA) Certificate in Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology (CCC-SLP)
    • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field
    • Spanish fluency
    • Licensed Medicaid provider
    • At least 3 years of experience working directly with infants/preschool age children preferred
    • Demonstrated knowledge and adherence to HIPAA legislation and other patient privacy laws
    • Experience working with sensitive and personal patient records and information
    • Able to lift a child of 30 pounds; set up and move furniture; and bend, squat, sit, kneel and stand in order to engage children at their level
    • Health screening, TB and fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice, FBI, Child Abuse Index)
    • CPR and First Aid Certificate and Infectious Disease Prevention training 
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work

    LOCATION AND COVID SAFETY:

    • Work location: 144 Leavenworth Street, San Francisco. Remote or hybrid work is not an option in this role.
    • Covid vaccination required for all staff, including booster when eligible
    • Covid precautions in the workplace: required masking, air filtration, sanitizing, screening of staff and children before entering the building

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

    • Salary range: $130,000 - $140,000 annually based on experience
    • Paid time off: 19 days of vacation your first year, 24 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, time off for education, family leave.
    • Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children.
    • Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-5.
