HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW
The Compliance Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s global trade compliance program, ensuring adherence to U.S. and international customs regulations, laws, and trade agreements. This role blends customs brokerage expertise with compliance management responsibilities.
This is an in-office position based near Jamaica, NY.
EXPECTATIONS
• Represent company to CBP and other Government Agencies
• Ensure accurate import declarations are submitted in a timely manner
• Oversee temporary imports, prepare closure documentation, and manage breaches
• Manage statement and ACH payments for duties and taxes
• Conduct entry audits and implement remediation plans to correct and prevent non-compliance
• File post entry corrections and protests
• Maintain C-TPAT status and conduct annual reviews of company policies
• Build solid relationships with internal and external partners with clear communication
• Create & maintain trade compliance procedures and processes – conduct training where needed
• Monitor regulatory changes and update internal procedures accordingly
• Lead the team with clear guidance as the Trade Compliance Subject Matter Expert
ESSENTIALS
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) required
• 7+ years of experience in trade compliance with multinational manufacturing companies
• Strong knowledge of HTS classification, country of origin, valuation methods, high value imports
• Skilled at prioritizing under pressure and making sound decisions
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
