    Position Summary

    The Compliance Ally (Credit Union Compliance Consultant) serves as a compliance consultant for our credit union clients by providing solution-oriented compliance services and consulting. The successful candidate is relationship focused and is responsible for building partnerships with clients to allow Comply-Yes! to align its service offerings with the client credit union's overall strategy. As a Compliance Ally, fostering and maintaining this partnership approach will give credit unions a key advisor that they can turn to for all compliance related needs and help drive value for the credit union's members.

    Essential Duties

    The Compliance Ally is, at its core, a consultant focused on providing compliance related expertise and services. The following essential duties form the general framework for the expectations of the position:

    • Develop, implement, monitor, update, and maintain compliance related policies and procedures.
    • Take ownership of client relationships, anticipate where needs will arise, and deliver solution-oriented plans of action.
    • Research and answer compliance related questions (compliance help desk).
    • Ensure all policies and procedures comply with applicable rules, laws, and regulations.
    • Facilitate and conduct compliance related trainings and work with the credit union to assign required trainings.
    • Monitor changes in rules, laws, and regulations, assess the impact of those changes on the organization, make recommendations to comply with such changes, and implement changes in collaboration with impacted business units.
    • Serve as the compliance voice on projects implementing new products or services, or other one-off projects requested by the client.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance resource library and Compliance Management System.
    • Monitor consumer complaints across all channels (regulatory and otherwise) to identify, monitor, and address potential compliance issues.
    • Administer client internal audit and examination program, including the tracking findings and development of resolutions.
    • Develop actionable compliance related reports, as required.
    • Recommend and implement changes to client's forms and disclosures.
    • Conduct quality control reviews as required.
    • Develop, monitor, and implement compliance programs for institutions engaged in or contemplating engagement in the marijuana or money service business industry.
    • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a concentration.
    • Industry certification such as Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO), or other relevant certification is a plus.
    • Consideration will also be given to an advanced degree with a concentration in financial regulation and compliance or a related concentration.
    • Five years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience knowledge, or training in financial services systems, policies, procedures, products, and services. Experience should consist of an in-depth regulatory compliance background such as a compliance specialist, compliance manager, or similar role within the credit union or banking industry (credit union preferred.)
    • Willingness to travel in and out of state as needed to credit union clients and trade shows.
    • Self-starter and ability to work autonomously, someone who thinks on their feet.
    • Able to pick up on complex concepts and apply current or newly learned skills, knowledge, and abilities in unique situations.
    • Desire to work in a continuous learning environment and actively seek out new information.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple or competing priorities to complete work in a timely manner.
    • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with a focus on providing concise and action-oriented information, advice, or recommendations.
    • Comfort with client interaction and fostering strong business relationships.
    • A high attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Advanced research skills specifically related to credit union regulatory compliance matters.
    • Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
    • Basic financial math skills: ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
    • Exceptional presentation skills.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands and fingers to type and operate a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
