    JOB SUMMARY

    In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals, this position serves as nursing support staff within the residential programs which serve individuals who are in need of substance use treatment. Responsibilities include admission assessments, education regarding general health, monitoring and/or administration of medication and physical/medical assessment and testing, under the direction of a Physician, medicated assisted treatment and telehealth services. Responsibilities also include maintaining infection control records.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

    Conducts health assessments/screening for clients in assigned programs as outlined by program regulations. Integrates nursing care into the treatment plan, addressing information obtained during the health assessment. Coordinates with intake to ensure these are completed within 48 business hours of admission.

    Provides case management including monitoring and making phone calls for clients in order to schedule medical care appointments and reviewing the EMR to anticipate upcoming laboratory and procedure needs.

    Manages medications as delegated by insurance requirements and provider requests, including preparing and administering injections, preparing sample medications and prescription assistance medication, and obtaining prior authorizations. Verifies and monitors medication orders and ensures the medication logs are accurately maintained.

    Conducts medication counts of any controlled substances allowed into the program and conducts audits for discrepancies between medication log and actual medication counts.

    Disposes of medications left by clients after discharge, ensuring that the disposal is appropriately handled by most current recommendations/guidelines.

    Provides patient education and support regarding health issues and concerns as needed and facilitates health related groups. Provides education around prescribed medications as needed.

    Prepares client for physician visits, obtaining vital signs, weight, height, and BMI, metabolic screenings and other interventions delegated.

    Practices the medication first model, works with the physician whether in person or via telehealth and is educated on all MAT medications.

    Performs TB skin tests on all residential clients as well as HIV, STD and TB risk assessment on all other clients as appropriate.

    Ensures appropriate documentation, according to agency standards, for all interactions and/or treatment activities provided.

    Follows all agency policies and procedures including emergency and corporate compliance policies/procedures 100% of the time.

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

    Acts as primary contact for agency infection control: tracking monthly temperature logs, documenting client’s and employee’s diagnosed with infectious disease, maintains agency first aid kits.

    Monitors and records urinalysis for drug screens as needed

    Assists with:

    Inventory of supplies

    Maintaining client files

    Chart audits

    Infection Control

    Quality Assurance

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    Nursing degree from an accredited school.

    Experience:

    Prefer minimum of 1 year experience working with behavioral health population. MAT/Medication Assisted Treatment Knowledge helpful.

    Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:

    Licensed Practical Nurse, registered in the state of Missouri, minimum.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Current nursing license from the State of Missouri

    Current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ First Aid and Medication Aid trainer.

    Must obtain all other trainings as required by DMH and CARF regulations. Complete all required Relias trainings set forth by CMHS.

    Good organizational skills in order to provide multiple services and carry out nursing duties.

    Ability to remain calm and alert in both busy or crisis situations, possession of good decision-making skills, good judgement and the ability to respond to physical crisis situations.

    Flexibility to alter day hours as necessary.

    DEGREE OF SUPERVISION

    Meet weekly with Director of Substance Use Disorder program.

    Seek supervision as needed from Medication Clinic Administrator and/or Nurse Practitioner.
