Applications Specialist
JOB SUMMARY
In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values and Goals, the Applications Specialist works to coordinate,develop, implement and maintain changes to the electronic health record (EHR). The Applications Specialist works closely with the Quality Management Department, Business Office and Clinical Departments to ensure that all individuals are adequately advised and trained in the most efficient work procedures in utilizing the EHR as updates and changes are made to the system.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates, develops, tests, implements and maintains all upgrades to the electronic health record (EHR) to optimize the functionality, operational efficiency and use.
Maintains documentation and records of all EHR system upgrades and changes for reference.
Serves as the agency’s primary Crystal report writer. Works on perfecting reports already written, responds timely to requests for new reports, and assists other with report-writing questions.
Coordinates with departments and prepares reports based on needs, prepares training materials and documents for end users.
Effectively communicates the process changes, enhancements and modifications both verbally and through written documentation to management and staff so that issues and solutions are understood and utilized in decision making and everyday operations.
Responsible for security set-up and maintenance and registry setting maintenance in the EHR.
Participates in the EHR User Groups in order to learn more about the product to ensure the agency is functioning at the highest level possible with utilization of the record.
Serves as the primary contact with vendor support and tracking outstanding support tickets to ensure quick and efficient resolution.
Provides primary operational and end user support for EHR issues. Responds quickly to help requests.
Assists with troubleshooting and coordinates with IT department as needed.
Assists in managing the client health information and medical records as well as administering computer information systems to meet legal, ethical and medical requirements.
Planning, conducting, and documenting security standards with the electronic health record including system access and working with the agency’s compliance officer to ensure privacy and security standards are maintained.
Works with other projects as they evolve to ensure that the EHR can/will meet the goals of those projects.
Organizes regular research for new technologies that would assist in the day to day needs and functioning of the agency and the HER and fit them into the organization for presentation to Leadership.
Follows all agency policies and procedures including emergency and corporate compliance policies/procedures 100% of the time.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience:
3+ years of similar position-related experience required, 5+ years preferred.
Prior experience in information technology and networks; prior experience using Crystal Reports; SQL Database experience preferred.

REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION
Maintains standards of agency and privileging policies and procedures.
Must acquire and maintain required training per agency policy and DMH regulations to include documented attendance of professional development/training or education.
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION
Is supervised by the Director of Quality and Compliance. Individual supervision will occur, at a minimum, of 1 hour a month.
