    JOB SUMMARY

    In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values and Goals, this position provides school-based individual therapy for behavioral health issues and provides prevention strategies that address substance use, bullying/violence, and suicide. This position will partner with the Prevention Specialist and school personnel to help create a student-led, student-supported culture of prevention.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

    Provides behavioral health services to youth within the school setting. These services may include assessment, treatment planning, life-skills assessment, individual therapy, and referral for more intensive services. Provides services according to agency productivity requirement.

    Provides group and individual prevention-focused services to youth in areas that include, but are not limited to, substance use, bullying/violence, and suicide prevention.

    Coordinates with Prevention Specialist, identified student leaders, and school personnel to facilitate the implementation and growth of a school culture that encourages open communication and student-supported prevention.

    Assists with the administration of school-sponsored prevention activities as directed by supervisor.

    Actively participates in school meetings, prevention grant meetings and local prevention coalition as appropriate to ensure a coordinated delivery of services and to advocate for the growth and innovation of prevention services in Eastern Jackson County.

    Appropriately documents all clinical/program activities according to quality standards. All documentation must be in within 48 working hours of providing the service.

    Participates in and meets all ethical/agency standards regarding all treatment and documentation practices, Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement procedures, Utilization Management, and program/client outcomes.

    Completes annual agency required trainings, CEU’s needed to maintain licensure/certifications, and attends behavioral health and/or prevention practice trainings as directed to be able to administer current best practices in therapy and prevention.

    Follows agency policies/procedures 100% of the time.

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

    Participates in implementation of agency strategic plan

    Utilizes Strengthscope according to agency guidelines

    Advocates with the general public and local legislators to further prevention efforts at the local, state, and national level.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or closely related human services field, or as otherwise approved by VPO and/or CEO.

    Experience:

    Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

    LPC/LCSW License preferred; PLPC/LMSW minimum required.

    Special Skills:

    Communication verbal and written

    Problem solving and decision making

    Basic computer knowledge

    Knowledge of community resources

    DEGREE OF SUPERVISION

    Is supervised by the Director of Outpatient, Access and Intake and receives a minimum of one hour per month of supervisory counsel.
