    JOB SUMMARY

    In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values and Goals, the Intensive Residential Specialist serves as support staff in the IRTS facility, assisting residents with the achievement of treatment goals by insuring a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment within the program. This position includes conducting treatment-based interventions with clients, assisting in the development of group skills trainings, and facilitating groups. This position collates and inputs daily documentation into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The person holding this position is expected to present as a model mental health technician for this program in fulfilling duties as well as showing self-initiative, professionalism, and positive leadership skills.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

    Provides direct intervention/monitoring and develops supportive therapeutic relationship with residents in order to meet treatment plan goals in accordance with the IRTS model and policies of the facility and as agreed upon by the individual resident.

    Monitors and intervenes with clients at all times and ensures appropriate/acceptable behaviors are exhibited, physical and emotional security is assured.

    Assists in development of group skills curriculum and in training, supporting and facilitating group interventions with residents.

    Documents interventions with residents in individual and group interactions. Collates and inputs the daily IRTS documentation for each resident into the electronic medical record.

    Completes duties consistent with the mental health technician position, including medication administration, food preparation and clean-up, and housekeeping duties.

    Participates in and meets ethical standards regarding all treatment and documentation practices, Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement procedures, utilization management, and program/client outcomes.

    Completes all required trainings for position and works with supervisor to obtain additional training that would enhance the individual’s ability to provide effective intervention-based services to residents.

    Transport residents as directed by supervisor. Meet driver requirements.

    Follows all agency policies and procedures including emergency and corporate compliance policies/procedures 100% of the time.

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

    Works well as a team member.

    Regularly attends staff meetings.

    Regularly attends in-service education.

    Serves as group educator in groups commensurate with skill and training.

    All other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:

    A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or a related field, or meet DBH exception requirements equal to this degree.

    Experience:

    A minimum of two years experience in working with clients with severe mental illness.

    Licensure, Certification, Registration:

    Medication Aide, CPR, First Aid, Non Violent Crisis Intervention

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Providers must meet requirements regarding experience and training when delivering services to specific age groups and treatment populations. The following criteria apply:

    Mental Health:Provider must maintain agency required trainings in seriously mental illness, dual diagnosis, or other related issues.

    Cultural Diversity Training:All providers must obtain a minimum of 6 hours, over a 2-year period, of professional development in the area of cultural diversity.

    Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR):Certification is maintained.

    Non- Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI):Certification is maintained.

    Medication Aid:Certification is maintained.

    First Aid:Certification is maintained

    Ethics:3 hour annually

    DEGREE OF SUPERVISION:

    This position is supervised by Designated Supervisor.
