Outpatient Therapist
JOB SUMMARY
In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values and Goals, the Counselor/Therapist, provides ongoing individual and group counseling to assigned population and also provides group education as requested. The Counselor/Therapist generates documentation reflecting clinical necessity which meets program and agency standards. The Counselor/Therapist interacts regularly with other staff and treatment providers to provide quality care to individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. Counselors/Therapists may also provide crisis intervention, case management, treatment planning and reviews and psycho social assessments.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Provides therapy to assigned caseload of clients. Will provide a minimum of 26 hours of billable service weekly (5.2 hours per day). Therapy services may include: case management individual, family and group services assigned.
Appropriately documents all clinical/program activities according to quality standards. All documentation must be in the electronic medical record within 48 hours of providing the service.
Conducts treatment planning and treatment plan reviews for assigned clients in a clinically appropriate and timely fashion as determined by program requirements.
Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings in order to coordinate service delivery to clients.
Participates in and meets ethical/agency standard regarding all treatment and documentation practices, Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement procedures, and Utilization Management and program/client outcomes.
Serves on agency and community task teams and committees as assigned.
Follows all agency policies and procedures including emergency and corporate compliance policies/procedures 100% of the time.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Will complete initial assessments as back up and/or as assigned.
Will provide crisis intervention services as needed and/or contact the Crisis Department for assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work required.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience for master’s level and a minimum of 3 years of experience for those without a master’s degree but substance abuse certification.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations: Current Missouri License; LPC or LCSW may be required.

REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION
Providers must meet requirements regarding experience and training when delivering services to specific age groups and treatment populations. The following criteria apply:
Licensed professionals must obtain CEU’s as outlined by board requirements. Non-licensed professionals must obtain 36 CEU’s over a 2 year period.
Cultural Competence Training: All providers must obtain a minimum of 6 hours, over a 2 year period, of professional development in the area of cultural competence.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation: Providers must maintain current CPR certification as required.
Non-violent Crisis Intervention: Providers must maintain current NVCI certification as required.
First Aid as required
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION
Weekly supervision with Outpatient Director or other licensed professional for one (1) month following hire; and monthly supervision thereafter for the duration of the provider's probationary period.
