    JOB SUMMARY

    In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values and Goals, the Clinical Group Educator will provide education groups to participants in the assigned treatment program in social, educational, vocational and other supports essential to functioning within the community and work towards recovery. This position also supports the agencies Mission, Vision, Values and Goals by teaching, mental health, substance abuse education and prevention and skill building classes in the program setting settings.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

    Provides group education, group skill building and group counseling to program participants. Provides at least 25 hours of group services weekly.

    Ensures high quality of all documentation practices and meets all accreditation, quality management and funding source standards. Completes group notes within 48 hours of service delivery. Researches and develops materials, activities, and training aids to be utilized in clinical education groups. Researches, compiles, and edits course outlines, lesson plans, and training aids.

    Arranges and participates, with the treatment team to insure any participant issues are communicated. Acts as liaison to the treatment team on behalf of group participants.

    Coordinates and monitors group education activities on behalf of program participants.

    Participates with treatment team in treatment planning/reviews for group participants in clinically appropriate and timely fashion.

    Closely monitors client and community utilization needs which are routinely addressed and incorporated into the overall group curriculum structure.

    Follows all agency policies and procedures including emergency and corporate compliance policies/procedures 100% of the time.

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

    Actively markets curriculum of psycho educational groups to agency program staff and to community referral sources as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, nursing, counseling or closely related human services field.

    Experience:

    One year experience in adult education, and in providing services to individuals with substance abuse disorders.

    Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

    SUD certification preferred.

    Special Skills:

    Considerable knowledge of general adult educational theories and principles.

    Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse problems in the local metropolitan area.

    Knowledge of current technical methods and practices in adult education.

    Ability to present educational training sessions to adults in the areas of mental health, substance abuse/addiction recovery, skill development education and prevention.

    Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, to groups and individuals.

    Knowledge of the sources and availability of current information applicable to substance abuse education and training programs.

    Be able to provide crisis intervention to participants of the program.

    REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION

    Providers must meet requirements regarding experience and training when delivering services to specific age groups and treatment populations. The following criteria apply:

    36 hours of training every two years in the area of mental health and substance abuse/treatment, prevention and related fields.

    Cultural Competency: three hours, every year, of training in the area of Cultural Competence

    Non-Violent Crisis Intervention: Renewal every two (2) years.

    Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation: Renewal every two (2) years.

    Ethics – 3 hours annually
