    JOB SUMMARY

    In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values and Goals, provides emergency services to persons in crisis. The Mobile Crisis Response Therapist (MCRT) is on call, is mobile, and works as a team member with other MCRTs and clinicians to provide face to face crisis assessments or telephone crisis intervention whenever necessary.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

    Provides continual on-call/mobile coverage for the Mobile Crisis Response Team as scheduled.

    Receives calls from CommCare Regional Crisis Line or CMHS staff by way of pager, cellular phone, office or home phone. Conducts telephone or face to face assessments as appropriate.

    Mobilizes other Crisis Team staff members to community when backup is needed and accesses other necessary community or ACI (Access Crisis Intervention) resources when appropriate.

    Assesses and coordinates client needs during crises: assigns next day urgent services for clients when appropriate, assists with coordinating hospitalization for clients when appropriate, or assists with connecting with other appropriate resources.

    Accesses other community resources as needed, i.e. police, ambulance, etc.

    Maintains proper and timely documentation to ensure compliance and/or reporting to DMH, CommCare, and all other concerned entities.

    Assists with the coordination and completion of involuntary commitments as needed by people in the community.

    Follows all agency policies and procedures including emergency and corporate compliance policies/procedures 100% of the time.

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

    Maintains good communication with other service areas, referral sources, and emergency systems to ensure efficient transfers, referral, and quality care for clients.

    Attends training and meetings designed to promote learning and efficacy.

    Assists in the orientation of new staff for ACI (Access Crisis Intervention) system as needed.

    All other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.

    Experience:

    Minimum of one year experience working with the Adult (19-60 years of age) mentally ill population is required. Minimum of one year experience working with the child / adolescent population (youth age 0-12 and 13-18 years of age) is required. If less than minimum requirement, for youth, 18 years and under, consultative back up is provided by the Coordinator and Supervisory staff of the Crisis Department.

    Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

    None required

    Special Skills:

    Current CPR with renewal every two years.

    Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Renewal every two years.

    REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION

    Minimum of 6 hours professional development in brief therapy techniques/crisis resolution every two years.

    Flexibility with scheduling and being able to be on call 24 hours a day for crisis services while on duty and ambulate.

    Ability to drive own vehicle and travel to and from emergency call locations.

    Ability to be alert in crisis situations, demonstrate good decision-making skills and possess good judgment.

    Must be organized, set priorities, and be effective at crises triage.

    Must be a team player and maintain excellent communication with team members and peers.

    DEGREE OF SUPERVISION

    Reports to and is supervised by the Outreach and Crisis Services Coordinator. Minimum of one hour of supervision individually will be provided quarterly. No sign off on documentation is necessary.
