    JOB SUMMARY

    In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values and Goals the Trauma Informed School Liaison’s priority population is children, youth and families referred by a public-school system that have been impacted by trauma/traumatic stress and present with behavioral health needs.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

    Collaborate with school personnel including administrators, mental health professionals, social workers, home school communicators, school nurses, board members, parents and youth, and others to assist with providing trauma responsive services and developing trauma informed systems.

    Provide individual and system-level mental health consultation and support to schools re: individual critical cases, safety threats, mass critical situations and becoming a trauma informed system.

    Provide education about mental health conditions, co-occurring disorders, trauma and traumatic stress (including substance use, developmental disabilities and mental health disorders) and coordinate/provide trainings on potential topics i.e. social emotional skills, trauma informed care, mental health first aid, suicide prevention and response, and violence prevention).

    Assist with access to screenings for potential or existing clients affected by trauma/traumatic stress and serve as liaison between school and behavioral health providers until treatment is established.

    Complete all mandatory monthly reports and documentation, which includes data spreadsheets to track referrals, activities and successes/obstacles summary. Collect data about trauma/traumatic stress and behavioral health issues that impact schools, juvenile courts, child welfare, etc.

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

    Collaborate effectively with law enforcement, school resource officers and juvenile courts as appropriate. Maintain contact with child welfare services when needed.

    Attend monthly conference calls, webinars and face-to-face meetings/trainings as requested by the Coalition’s Community Liaison Coordinator/DBH Manager of Trauma Treatment Services.

    Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field as recognized by the US Department of Education.

    Experience- Minimum 3 years clinical experience.

    Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations – Must be Licensed or Provisional Licensed. Valid driver’s license.

    Special Skills – Must serve children and youth under the age of 18 years and have a full continuum of children’s services including but not limited to community support, therapy, peer support/family support, medication management/prescribing.

    Must have behavioral health outpatient accreditation.

    Must be a part of, or have completed a state-approved Missouri Model of Trauma Informed Training/Learning Collaborative

    REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION

    Providers must:

    Pass the required background checks required by the assigned police department.

    Be trained in Critical Incident Stress Management. This training will be provided by CMHS.

    Be able to pass a urine drug screen at hire.

    Maintain a valid driver’s license. Must have access to dependable auto with adequate auto insurance and registration, for making frequent home/community visits.

    Provide must be able to meet requirements regarding experience and training when delivering services to specific age groups and treatment populations. The following criteria apply:

    36 hours of training every two years in the area of mental health and substance abuse/treatment, prevention and related fields.

    Cultural Competency: three hours, every year, of training in the area of Cultural Competence

    Non-Violent Crisis Intervention: Renewal every two (2) years.

    Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation: Renewal every two (2) years.

    Provided weekly supervision.
