POSITION SUMMARY
The Rooting & Hardening Technician will follow the production plan as directed by the Lead and/or
Production Manager. This will involve strictly following SOP's to plant, root, fertigate, harden, sort, and
prepare in vitro shoots for sale as well as employing sterile technique, preparing fertigation fluid, capturing
data for production-related activities, maintaining a clean workspace, monitoring lab supplies, and other lab
maintenance duties as directed.
Essential Functions:
● Execute against production plan by following the SOP's
● Cut and transfer plants to fresh medium using sterile technique
● Plant, root, and acclimate in vitro shoots
● Fertigate, harden, and sort clones to prepare plants for sale
● Sample plants for viruses and other diseases
● Assist with plant media preparation
● Capture data for inventory management and KPI's
● Meet KPI's as set by management
● Maintain safe, clean, sterile equipment and facility
● Prepare supplies needed for daily tasks as directed
● Set up and operate equipment, including laminar flow hoods, bead sterilizers, and environmental
growth chambers
● Other duties as directed

Competencies: Detail oriented, accuracy, organization, problem-solving skills, team player, time
management
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education and Experience: HS diploma required, Bachelors of Science in horticulture, plant science, or
biotechnology preferred but not required. No experience required, 1-2 years experience with plant tissue
culture, nursery production, plant propagation, a sterile laboratory setting or some combination thereof is
strongly preferred.
Computer Skills: Should be comfortable entering information in a spreadsheet or form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sit for long periods of time. Delicate, close-up work with hand tools for long periods of time. Good eyesight
(may be corrected), Reach overhead or use step stool. Lift/Carry 1-25 lbs. Other Physical Requirements:
Must wear PPE including but not limited to lab coat, gloves, eye protection, and face mask.
