Hello, future Concord Group Insurance Intern! Were very excited to welcome you to our team this summer! As an Underwriting Intern, youll be joining a collaborative team in our Personal and Commercial Lines Underwriting Departments. During your internship, youll receive all the support you need to be successful including on-the-job training and mentorship from our talented team members. You wont just be job shadowing, youll be doing real work through a series of projects and tasks designed by our senior leadership team.
Our 12-week program is structured to provide you with a well-rounded education in the insurance industry and an opportunity to explore the many career paths our company has to offer. The goal of our program is to provide you with all the fundamentals you need to pursue a role with Concord Group Insurance post-graduation!
WHAT YOULL BRING:
- A strong desire to learn! Our internships are designed to give you exposure to many aspects of the insurance industry
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- The ability to work as part of a team. Collaboration between team members is a fundamental part of our company values; we learn from each other, lend a helping hand when needed and share ideas in order to best serve our policyholders and independent agents
- Proven organizational skills which will serve you well during your internship
- Effective communication skills including the ability to present and share information, and report analytical findings
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
- At least a 3.0 GPA and a study focus in the following areas: Business Administration, Business Management, or Risk Management

- How to asses risk, negotiate with agents, while following underwriting guidelines and best practices
WHAT YOULL BE DOING:
- Reviewing New Business, Renewals and Inspections
- Participating in large loss reviews
- Joining our Marketing team on agency visits
- Completing detailed, industry specific training, including coursework from AINS
- Contributing to special projects developed by Underwriting leadership
- Helping us build an even better internship experience through your insights and feedback!
- At the conclusion of your summer internship, you will present your work, skills, achievements and experience to our senior leadership team
