  • Responsibilities

    As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Information Officer will directly report to the Chief Operating Officer and have the primary day-to-day responsibility to help grow the organization through the use of technological resources. The CIO must be comfortable working with all departments within the organization, provide excellent and timely service to VieMed employees. The CIO will work internally to identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains and ways to scale business activities rapidly and effectively.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Work with the Executive Team on the strategic vision of the organization, including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships, while performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization’s overall mission.

    Develop IT strategy and lead the IT Team in effective execution.

    Direct the design, planning, implementation and maintenance of the computing infrastructure that supports the company’s operations and business applications, to include billing/electronic records system.

    Maintain oversight of all IT projects, end-user support/helpdesk.

    Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures and processes while maintaining the highest degree of information security, enforcing company and industry HIPAA compliant practices.

    Review, recommend and oversee all vendors and manages service agreements for business systems, telecommunications, IT services and equipment.

    Works in interactive processes within IT and validates findings by comparing appropriate samples.

    Ensures compliance with HIPAA, PCI, NYSDFS security, cyber requirements and other recognized security standards.

    Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and security-related procedures.

    Oversees disaster response and business continuity initiatives.

    Coordinate with stakeholders to determine size, scope and duration of proposed projects, and ensures that IT resources are available and properly aligned with anticipated project demands.

    Direct and ensure the responsiveness and service levels of the IT department are aligned with business needs and expectations.

    Maximize the mix and optimize cost benefits of internal vs. outsourced solutions.

    Build strong technology vendor partnerships to ensure best performance and effective financial return.

    Define standards and architecture.

    Oversee the selection and purchasing of IT assets to meet business requirements.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Master’s degree preferred.

    Three (3) or more years management experience preferred.

    Five (5) or more years of relevant IT, quantitative and qualitative research and analytics experience.

    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Knowledge of IT disciplines, including experience leading teams, enterprise and data architecture, strategic planning, system development, software acquisition, computer operations management, client support services, end user computing, contract management and asset management.

    Access to Protected Health Information (PHI)

    This position will require the employee to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) for duties related to document and report preparation. Policies and procedures will be strictly adhered to make sure PHI is protected as required by the HIPAA Privacy Rule.
