DATA ANALYST
OVERVIEW:
Congruent Insurance Solutions, LLC (“CIS” or the “Company”) is a niche services and solutions provider to US Life Insurer and Reinsurer clients, located in Westport, CT. CIS is a white label Third Party Administrator (“TPA”), providing service on behalf of US life insurance or reinsurance companies seeking to buy back certain of their life insurance/reinsurance liabilities from policy holders.
Located in Westport, Connecticut, CIS seeks a bright, enthusiastic individual with an interest in financial markets who can utilize data and analytics to improve and inform pricing, risk management and investment decisions. The ideal candidate has a proven proficiency in data analytics and programming and is interested in helping build and grow CIS from the ground up. A successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys independent work, with minimal supervision, and being part of a small, entrepreneurial team.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Data analysis:
- Aggregate and analyze large datasets of mortality and pricing information to inform valuation and investment opportunities across existing in-force portfolios and potential new investments.
- Utilize statistical analysis to evaluate and test assumptions regarding mortality, persistency, and anti-selection.
- Develop and maintain actuarial models for valuing and assessing risks associated with Life Settlements and other mortality linked assets and develop mortality based VAR models.
- Manage underwriting information to inform value at risk associated with adverse mortality experience.
2. Systems and Infrastructure:
- Streamline the process of collection and reporting of data to minimize manual intervention and help scale the business.
- Utilize data management skills to collect, analyze and present data in a structured form, and management information dashboards.
- Systematize and automate solutions for process improvement to increase automation and operations of the Company.
3. Database Management
- Take over ownership of internal database built in Microsoft SQL Server.
- Expand, improve and document all aspects of existing data architecture and expand the control framework for data management.
- Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
4. New Business Ventures
- The Data Analyst will play a key role in utilizing data analysis to evaluate and action new business opportunities as CIS grows beyond its existing mandates.
- Create and develop new databases, data collection systems and utilize data analytics to support the build out of new business ventures the Company is pursuing.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong quantitative background. Candidate will have completed a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 2+ years’ work experience in Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- Experience working with, and analyzing, large data sets.
- Strong organization, communication, and analytical skills with an ability to think clearly and laterally.
- Strong project management skills.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including VBA).
- Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI welcome.
