PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Quality Assurance and Food Safety at the port level.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for maintaining the food safety program and records.
- Perform/oversee/coordinate quality inspections, and product temperature checks, for all products arriving to the port.
- Help generate and distribute quality reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain open communication with all Managers, Corporate Quality Assurance, and Sales Department to ensure that finished product and quality processes, are maintained at all times.
- Work with the Shipping Department to separate product and coordinate shipping.
- Perform/oversee daily re-inspections of warehouse products.
- Monitor and ensure proper rotation and shipment of all warehouse products.
- Coordinate inspections with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA/CBP).
- If necessary, be able to travel to the production countries.
MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited.
- 1 to 2 years previous work experience in Food Safety.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Good communication skills (i.e. written and verbal).
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to lift 40lb boxes of produce.
PREFERRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:
- College Degree in Agriculture.
- Bi-lingual: English and Spanish.
- Food Safety certifications.
- Knowledge of fresh fruits and vegetables, food processing and quality programs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position requires working long hours and some weekends during some weeks of the year.
