Connexta is looking for a User Experience Designer that is focused on the visual appearance and user experience of the rich-client, web-based front-ends for federated geospatial data and discovery access. The ideal candidate will thrive in a highly collaborative environment, working alongside engineers to develop user-focused solutions that advance search and discovery for the intelligence community.
The UX designer is a member of a cross functional design team and is primarily responsible for facilitating user research across a wide target audience and using the findings to create interface design solutions that benefit users across a multitude of scenarios. This person is passionate about turning complicated tasks into simple interactions and has a determined empathy for users.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work independently and collaboratively with the design team and the engineering team to meet complex interface design challenges
- Produce UX deliverables such as wireframes, diagrams, and prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts to stakeholders
- Facilitate user research and analyze user data
- Use your visual design skills to create mockups for presentations.
- Contribute toward the establishment and documentation of UX/UI patterns while designing new web product offerings
- Capture requirements from both the user community and project leaders in an ongoing and iterative process: defining the particular user experience and visual design that meets each project's goals
- Be the voice and advocate for the customer by sharing data and insights with the team to communicate customer needs and best practices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong technical aptitude combined with curiosity and a love for products, people, and an intuitive user experience
- A strong portfolio of desktop or web application design that demonstrates your ability to think through user-centered design processes
- Advanced proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, OmniGraffle, and Axure
- Demonstrated ability to create wireframes and mockups that effectively communicate design concepts to project stakeholders
- Experience conducting user research to validate prototypes and conduct ongoing usability testing of software
- Intermediate understanding of HTML/CSS and other client-side technology with the ability to design within the context of their abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of collaborative agile teams to achieve goals. Ability to communicate effectively across engineering team, project stakeholders, and user community
- Bachelor's Degree in interaction design, computer science, industrial design, visual design, HCI, or a related field. Experience in the field is considered in place of a degree if accompanied by years of experience and a very strong portfolio.
- Ability to obtain a SECRET CLEARANCE
- Due to contract requirements, US CITIZENSHIP is required
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML/CSS/Less, React/Redux/etc, Cesium, Webpack, Yarn/NPM
- Software processes and tools such as Scrum agile software methodology, Agile UX and Lean UX methodologies, Git Jira, Confluence, and Jenkins
- Ability to create working prototypes
- Current Security Clearance
