    Xavier University’s College of Professional Sciences invites applications for a non-tenure track teaching professor position in the School of Education beginning in the Fall 2024 semester. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

    The position involves two areas of responsibilities for the School of Education (SOE). In the SOE, there are several programs: Montessori, Primary and Middle Education, Secondary, Special Education, Reading and TESOL, and Educational Administration. The purpose of this position is two-fold. First is to be responsible for field placements and coordination of placements for all major field experiences and student teachers, while maintaining and developing relationships with area schools. Second is to support the programs through advising potential and enrolled graduate students, maintaining records of students, collaborating with the Graduate Office personnel, directors of the School of Education, and program directors in recruiting and advising graduate students, and acting as a liaison with Enrollment Management and Admission to assist in recruiting events, graduate student communication, etc. for all programs in the School of Education. The position also includes teaching in the area of knowledge and expertise that align with the programs in the School of Education.

    Responsibilities Includes:

    1. Support programs through advising potential and enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. More specifically, recruit and advise potential and new graduate students for teacher licensure. Advise potential and new graduate students in the M.Ed. and M.A. programs. Provide program orientation and advising documentation to students. Maintain student records and use the approved systems to meet with students throughout the program.

    2. Arrange and coordinate all major field experiences for licensure students. Prepare documentation required by students, host schools, and supervisors. Maintain and develop relationships with area schools including public and private elementary, middle, and high schools. Assure student adherence to placement requirements. Field experiences are a requirement for licensure and various endorsement and degree programs. Working with principals and teachers also provides an opportunity to maintain and develop new school and community relationships, which is essential for the recruitment and enrollment of our programs.

    3. Programs in the School of Education must abide by the regulations for their accreditation agencies. This position would include maintaining student records, assuring that students are meeting program and licensure requirements. Communicate with students regarding program requirements and any missing documentation. Communicate with program directors and administrative staff to ensure all requirements are complete.

    4. Act as liaison with Enrollment Management and Admission to assist in recruiting events, student communication, etc. for all programs in the School of Education. Advise graduate students in all programs in the School of Education. Collaborate with the Graduate Office personnel, directors of the School of Education, XU Centers, and program directors on events, professional development, and projects, etc. Learning the specific requirements for each program will be required in this position.

    5. Maintain communication between stakeholders. Work with the supervisor in case of an issue with student performance. Field supervisors are responsible for completing observations for Xavier students while they complete their program requirements. The field supervisors communicate with faculty and Xavier students and school personnel. They are an asset to our programs and providing mentoring and coaching to our students.

    6. Teach classes. In coordination with the program directors, courses will be assigned each semester that support the content knowledge and expertise of this teaching professor. The credentials of the teaching professor should align with one or more programs in the SOE.

    Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Education with a minimum of five years of teaching in any content area. Current Ohio teaching licensure, the ability to be licensed by 8/12/24 or the ability to transfer license to Ohio from another state. A successful candidate will have strong communication skills, and willingness to network, initiating and facilitating school-university relationships. Previous leadership experience preferred.

    • Unload and load materials, read plans and specifications, tend machines, and assist carpenters, operating engineers, and other construction site workers.
    • Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including assisting in erecting/dismantling scaffolding, removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials.
    • Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site on a daily basis.
    • Load and unload construction supplies from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment.
    • Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
    • Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
    • Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings.
    • Check work regularly to ensure it's up to code and specifications.
    • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, demo saw, forklifts, skid loaders, chisels, sanders, hoists and other tools as directed by management.
    • Shovel materials to and from construction areas, including asphalt, concrete, dirt and snow.
    • Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management.
    • Report incidents immediately to safety director, foreman or HR in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company.
