    POSITION PROFILE

    Under general supervision, performs routine breakdown and preventive maintenance (PM) that includes inspection and repair of plant machinery/mechanisms, manufacturing and/or facilities related equipment. Performs breakdown maintenance by troubleshooting, repairing and documenting maintenance procedures. May interact with management, engineering and vendors regarding new machinery/equipment selection, specifications, and set-up.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Actively participates and contributes to systems and/or equipment process design and improvements.
    • Actively supports all environmental and recycling efforts including the disposal of hazardous materials. May need to be HAZMAT certified.
    • Adheres to all corporate and department safety guidelines and procedures.
    • Attends and may conduct, safety training classes to keep current.
    • Aids in the design, assembly, and/or fabrication of all types of equipment and special machines.
    • Contributes to plant layout to facilitate the moves, relocation, and installation of plant machinery, manufacturing and/or facilities related equipment.
    • Directs contractors in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems/equipment involving voltage greater than 500.
    • Documents repair, set-ups, maintenance, PM, and safety procedures to ensure equipment reliability, quality control and improve overall operation of equipment.
    • Inspects, adjusts, programs, and makes electrical/mechanical repairs to plant machinery, manufacturing and/or facilities related equipment according to work assigned.
    • Installs, makes alterations to, and rebuilds equipment.
    • Ensures the working area, tools and equipment are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
    • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
    • Programs a PLC to implement machine enhancements.
    • Recommends and is involved in systems and/or equipment modifications with management and engineering.
    • Recommends spare parts for inventory to provide equipment reliability.
    • Required to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
    • Responsible for all repairs and installation of electrical systems and components up to 500 volts.
    • Starting from a control concept, designs and builds control systems.
    • Troubleshoots and repairs machine control and/or support systems.
    • Troubleshoots electrical problems, including, but not limited to power circuits, relay logic systems, PLC systems, and facilities related systems.
    • Works with internal business partners to insure effective and timely machine changeovers, set-ups, and projects.
    • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives
    • Must maintain current technical knowledge relevant to job. This may include formal training that will be provided by the Company. Time spent in Company required training will be applicable towards the employees’ regularly scheduled workday.
    • PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS NECESSARY IN SUPPORT OF BUSINESS OBJECTIVES. This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Electrician. It is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function. Nor is it intended that this describes all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

     MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Assist higher-classified Maintenance personnel on mechanical and electrical installations, service and repairs to machinery, equipment and accessories in the factory and office.
    • May occasionally be required to perform duties and responsibilities of equal and lower classified maintenance positions.
    • Performs all 5S housekeeping tasks in appropriate areas. Works to ensure work area is maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe condition at all times. Completes all regularly scheduled 5S checks. Immediately alerts team member and team coordinators of all unsafe work conditions.
    • Participates as a member of the Facility Maintenance Department. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Maintenance Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas of lack of cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the Work Team Leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues effecting cohesiveness. Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
    • Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Follow all safety policies and practices and wear protective equipment as required.

    Required Skills

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Must possess a recognized State Electrician’s license or journeyman Electricians card or will obtain a Michigan State Electrician’s license within 90 days of employment/holding the classification.
    • Ability to obtain a powered industrial truck and crane license

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    Required Experience

     PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
