The Butler County Conservation District is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time position as a Conservation Resource Specialist. This position requires excellent organization, communication and technical skills. The successful applicant will be responsible for delegated duties under various District programs. The Conservation Resource Specialist will review nutrient management plans; evaluate farm operations to determine conservation needs, develop conservation plans to address those conservation needs and assist operators with the implementation of conservation practices to address the identified conservation needs; review Ag - Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plans, and conduct inspections for compliance. Successful candidate must be able to pass the Pa Child Abuse History Clearance (ACT 151), a Pa. State Police Criminal Background Check and FBI fingerprinting immediately upon hiring and every 4 years.
Minimum qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in natural resource management, agriculture, environmental science or a related field or equivalent related work experience in Resource Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Education or related field.
· Possess a valid driver's license.
· Experience with Microsoft Office
· Ability to traverse rough terrain in all weather conditions.
· Obtain and maintain the necessary Nutrient Management and Agricultural Conservation planner certifications throughout employment.
Preferred qualifications:
· Act 38 Certification
· NRCS Job Approval Authority
Salary:
· $42,500 + experience and qualifications
· Benefits include health insurance, vacation, IRA, and sick leave
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM Occasional weekend and evenings hours may be required.
