    Our Historical Resources department is seeking a part-time Conservation Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for the input and maintenance of data and files related to the preservation and conservation of artifacts. Activities support institutional priorities related to the care of artifacts during the preparation of condition surveys, exhibitions, artifact loans, new acquisitions, conservation treatments, and the general care of collections. Assists with the maintenance of chemical safety data information, disaster preparedness information and the museum's online preservation fact sheets. Works with a variety of team members to document conservation procedures and images via the museum's collections management system. Updates the Monday.com and the collection management system (CMS) project lists, records meeting minutes and provides weekly project lists for the preservation management meeting. Reports to the Chief Conservator.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Enters reports and digital images related to the examination and treatment of artifacts by conservators into the museum collection management system (CMS).
    • Accurately reports location changes or inventories of artifacts using a collection management database and/or excel spreadsheet in accordance with established procedures.
    • Routinely updates and maintains departmental Safety Data Sheets and lab chemical labels, disaster supplies and other supplies as required.
    • Works with conservators to order, receive and track supply purchases.
    • Compiles updated historic house booklets including artifact floorplans, images and inventories using established procedures.
    • Works with Chief Conservator to update the institutional disaster recovery plan disaster and portions of the online conservation and care fact sheets.
    • Provides timely reports on status of projects to supervisor.
    • Periodic reporting of Conservation data for quarterly board meetings and other institutional reports.
    • Perform other activities as necessary.

    Your Qualifications:

    • Requires a minimum BA college degree.
    • Experience using windows-based computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Photoshop.
    • Advanced skill in using a collection management software (EMu preferred) and Monday.com desired.
    • Proficient in conducting research (Including internet research).

    Special Skills:

    • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures for data entry
    • Ability to enter data accurately into a database
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Good communication skills
