    We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a STUDENT SERVICE ADVISOR.

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  This position requires a bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience in education, sales, marketing or customer service. A valid Florida Driver’s License is also required.

     

    THE STARTING SALARY IS $38,500.

    PLEASE NOTE:  This position will be based on the Daytona Beach campus and will service the Daytona Beach territory. However, responsibilities of this position may require travel for temporary assignment or permanent relocation to any of Daytona State campuses.

     

    WORKING HOURS:  Work hours will vary between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Occasional evenings and weekends hours are required.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

     

    • Reviews and processes student applications and educational records/transcripts. Discusses and makes recommendations on programs of study and communicates College policies and procedures and admissions requirements. Informs students of available funding resources and communicates College policies, procedures, and requirements.
    • Informs new and prospective students of College majors and courses offered on various campuses and assists students with admissions process.
    • Interacts with high school career and guidance counselors, community-based agencies and human services providers. Develops referral networks with outside agencies.
    • Assists with the implementation of College recruitment activities including personal visits and follow up, staffing booths at events or fairs, high school visits, conducting telemarketing efforts, and assisting in direct mail initiatives.
    • Maintains current information on State Statutes, State Board Rules, and College policy and procedures regarding college admission, and immigration guidelines as they pertain to one’s eligibility to study.
    • Makes presentations on college programs, courses, and the mission of the College as requested or assigned.
    • Maintains record system for area of responsibility, including student records and counseling/advising sessions with students. Inputs information into various database systems.
    • Attends staff, divisional or other meetings as directed to exchange information. Attends professional seminars and/or conferences to improve professional skills.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  The successful candidate must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to interpret information and make logical decisions; ability to operate a calculator, PC and keyboard; ability to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods of time performing detailed tasks; and ability to maintain a high level of concentration.  The successful candidate will also be able to work effectively with diverse populations and various partner organizations, while providing quality customer service at all times. Employee must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
