    The North Central Texas Council of Governments Transportation Department is seeking an entry- or mid-level Transportation Planner to assist with the development, implementation, and long-range planning related to general aviation airports in North Central Texas. This individual will work closely with regional airport managers, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) staff, Texas Department of Transportation staff, and others to provide planning assistance for the regional general aviation system, including the development of a robust aviation education network. This posting is for the mid-level Transportation Planner II position.     Due to the pandemic, the North Central Texas Council of Governments is currently permitting employees to work a hybrid schedule that consists of the equivalent of a minimum of three days per week in the NCTCOG offices in Arlington, Texas, and two days remotely from home within the Dallas-Fort Worth Region. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

    • Coordinating the development of aviation system performance metrics and analysis of regional system capacity
    • Attending outreach events to promote aviation careers to regional students, including technical application and sponsorship for the NCTaviationcareers.com
    • Assisting with planning activities associated with the implementation of the Regional General Aviation and Heliport System Plan
    • Analyzing surface access to air carrier, reliever, and general aviation airports and heliports
    • Coordinating activities with local aviation and airport officials on the safe, integrated use of unmanned aircraft systems and other emerging technologies
    • Assisting with the development and implementation of the North Texas Unmanned Aviation Systems (UAS) Safety and Integration Initiative
    • Incorporating surface access to aviation planning and other aviation planning initiatives into the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP)
    • Supporting aviation planning activities associated with the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, Fort Worth
    • Supporting airports with planning needs associated with special events
    • Drafting, preparing, and delivering oral presentations
    • Drafting correspondence, documentation, reports, articles, and executive summaries
    • Providing support to technical committees
    • Collecting and summarizing data
    • Developing maps

    • Relevant knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars pertaining to airport planning and policy regarding Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) integration
    • FAA Pilot’s License a plus

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in analytical, quantitative methods (Aviation Management or a related field)
    • At least one year of job-related experience in transportation or aviation planning

    SALARY 

    Minimum of $45,875.00 - $55,050.00 per year
