    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Global EHS Manager of Construction will provide administrative EHS direction to the respective Construction EHS group.  Interface closely with the Divisional Vice President to ensure total coverage of all aspects of construction for projects executed at Roeslein & Associates, Inc.  Develop EHS standard methods and procedures to enhance the consistency, quality, safety and efficiency of the construction projects executed.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage construction safety resources in order to provide services in accordance with project scopes and maintain a compliant, productive, and efficient construction services group.
    • Subject matter expert for the organization in implementing EHS best practices across all construction locations.
    • Assist Project Directors, Project Managers, and Construction Managers with client opportunities such as assisting in customer meetings for Phase 4 management and installation scope.
    • Develop the construction safety group as required by seeking out highly qualified, capable and motivated resources.
    • Provide ongoing employee development by mentoring and closely working with EHS Construction Specialists to establish clear objectives and goals for both technical and personal growth.
    • Develop and maintain safety procedures, guidelines and standards within the Construction Group.
    • Assist in planning and implementing safety policies and procedures with local, state, federal EPA/OSHA rules and regulations and international regulations.
    • Perform EHS Risk Assessments and implement control measures.
    • Evaluate Roeslein’s risk, maintain records of insurance policies and claims for workers comp, auto, and property claims.
    • Drive continuous improvement through safety analyses, audits, investigations, and other Continuous Improvement ideas.
    • Ensure projects are properly staffed and scope of responsibilities are established.
    • Provide EHS oversight and input to construction bid packages upon creation and release.
    • Assist in plant audit and evaluation efforts for constructability, sequencing, and hazard analysis.
    • Perform Prevention Through Design (PTD) of drawings and specification packages to ensure safe and compliant constructability.
    • Participate in project meetings and customer project review meetings.
    • Develop EHS related training and procedures for Construction group.
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 65%.
    • Have a complete high level understanding of construction project scopes, finances and schedules

     

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.
    • Accountable for all company team members on site and adhere to the company standards of safety.
    • Provide Construction Safety employees timely constructive feedback
    • Provide solutions to complex environmental, safety, health and security issues serving as a safety leader.
    • Provide appropriate safety and health, incident prevention, and investigation training for managers and supervisors.
    • Assist management in the inspection of project sites to ensure safe and healthful conditions for workers.
    • Establish positive client relationships to ensure future opportunities and open communications.
    • Oversee contractor installation methods to ensure safety and compliance is maintained.
    • Provide coverage for EHS Construction Specialists on site as needed.
    • Effectively serve as a point of contact with the customer and ensure that communication is handled in a professional and timely manner.
    • Keep proper compliance documentation.
    • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere.  Exposure to harsh conditions such as:  dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures for short periods of time is possible.  All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas. 

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.   While performing the duties of this position, the employee will regularly be required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear, and work in a consistent state of alertness and in a safe manner.  Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. on a regular basis is required. 

     

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree or greater in EHS, Safety Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as Construction Safety Management is required.
    • Ability to earn a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar professional certification is highly recommended.
    • Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in a construction setting is preferred.
    • Experience with Process Safety Management standards to support Roeslein P&E and Alternative Energy systems.
    • Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues on site is required.
    • Ability to make authoritative decisions and recommendations that have an important impact on the outcome of project installation activities.
    • Ability to negotiate critical and controversial issues with executive team, engineers, and managers of other organizations and companies, requiring skills in persuasion and negotiation.
    • Individuals at this level demonstrate a mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding construction safety programs.
    • Mentoring and coaching skills are required to assist and develop department direct reports.
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required.
    • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and planning skills.
    • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
    • Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based programs are required.
    • Effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
    • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.

    • Must be able to pass criminal history reference check without any felonies. _YOU WILL BE ASKED TO FILL OUT A PERSONAL HISTORY STATEMENT ALONG WITH TAKING A POLYGRAPH TEST. _

    WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must be physically able to perform the major functions of the job including driving a security vehicle, riding a bicycle, walking frequently, and climbing stairs.
