Position Summary
This position will be responsible for defining, implementing and administering the Health & Welfare and Retirement benefits for active employees of the E&P (Exploration & Production) division. This includes cost, utilization, and internal/external trend and surveys analysis of welfare and retirement benefit plans to attract and retain our talent in a fast-paced, dynamic energy industry.

• U.S. employee benefits program design, development, and administration: including 401k, nonqualified defined benefit plans, medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as voluntary & Wellness programs:
- Analyzes cost data and projects future expenses for plans listed above. Provides data to accounting and internal/external auditors, as required.
- New hire, termination, and qualifying event changes including associated payroll deductions and taxable benefit changes;
- COBRA administration.
- Employee and manager benefit inquiries and issue resolution.
- Non-qualified plans payroll processing and tax reporting.
- Annual Non-discrimination testing for 401k plan.
- Coordination of benefit plan oversight committee meetings, including documentation of meeting results in formal committee minutes.
- Researches and prepares responses for the Plan Administrator in response to appeals. Handles all inquiries with regards to benefits account reconciliation or discrepancies.
- Communications such as design and distribution of benefit communication materials to employees and managers: Annual open enrollment process and oversight of benefits section of employee intranet, required annual defined contribution plan communications (safe-harbor notice, QDIA, annual fee disclosure).
- Affordable Care Act fee requirements and reporting including 1095/1094 distribution and filing.
- Regular audits in vendor systems to ensure compliance with plan structure and company policy. Discrepancy resolution. Assure Third Party administrators apply appropriate Plan deductibles, coinsurances or copays.
- Administration of disability and workers compensation claims, as well as FMLA leaves. Vendor oversight and issue resolution.
- End to end management of benefits invoicing, payment, and reconciliation process: Timely invoice submission; reconciliation of vendor invoice discrepancies and issue resolution.
- Continuous evaluation of internal processes and focus on improvements to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Responsible for all aspects of Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 compliance, including up to date documentation of Key Controls, Unit Evaluations, and annual testing.
- Responsible for 401k annual audit and 11k filing, Form 5500 completion, and filing for 401k and health and welfare plans, Form 8955-SSA filing for 401k plan, actuarial census data for nonqualified plans, annual proxy information for defined contribution and defined benefit plans.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 6-8 years of related work experience in Health & Welfare Benefits, 401k or Pension
- Proficiency in excel and understanding of complex spreadsheet formulas couple with strong mathematical skills required.
- Must possess effective written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and organizational skills and demonstrate a detail-oriented project management capability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
- Prior Health & Welfare Benefits work experience
- SAP experience
- PHR Certification
- Understanding of COBRA, ERISA, FMLA and other benefits legislation
- Familiarity with online benefit administration systems and vendor interfaces
