    Job Description

    THE ROLE:

    The Actuarial and Analytics team seeks to positively impact Blue Cross Blue Shield sales and retention results through the production of healthcare data and analytics, coupled with active engagement with the consultant community to promote awareness and understanding of the BCBS value prop.  Our team works closely with the BCBS Plans on analytics related to healthcare provider network performance, ensuring that Plans understand the competitiveness of their provider networks and identifying opportunities to enhance their competitive position. Our team also partners directly with senior leaders at the consulting firms, serving as a primary liaison for our member Plans on a broad spectrum of topics both technical and general.

    The Senior Associate, Strategic Initiatives role on the Actuarial and Analytics team will contribute by providing support and analysis for internal and external projects and initiatives, with an ultimate objective of assisting Plans in competing for new sales and retaining national accounts. The role enables the individual to interact across all levels of the organization (including the Executive Leadership Team) and provides the opportunity to engage and support in a variety of ways. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Actuarial and Analytics.                                                    

    THE CANDIDATE:

    Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans are seeking new innovative approaches to grow their National Account client base.  Consortium Health Plans is seeking a versatile high-performer with a passion for health care who can work collaboratively with Consortium staff and member Plans to execute upon project-specific strategic healthcare priorities.

    The candidate must have intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, innate problem solving-skills, and be able to think strategically. The candidate will be the go-to resource to support the delivery of a variety of Plan-facing consulting projects and intellectual capital development and maintenance. This role uniquely blends responsibilities for both analytics and business insights.  

    Preferably, this individual would draw upon experience from roles of increasing responsibility in an employee benefits consulting firm, a management consulting firm, or equivalent – with expertise in project management, data analysis, medical RFP evaluation, and strategy development support.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ·         Provide strong support to the Actuarial and Analytics team in a variety of areas:

    o    Create and maintain databases and spreadsheets for analysis and reporting

    o    Prepare for Plan, consultant, and employer meetings

    o    Coordinate content development for work group meetings, newsletters, and other identified focus areas

    ·         Provide direct support to the Senior Vice President of Actuarial and Analytics on a variety of strategic initiatives that might require thought partnership, strategy creation/iteration, written material development, key meeting facilitation, stakeholder management, and interfacing with other Blue System entities

    ·         Independently manage various projects and initiatives, including externally-facing projects as well as internal national account committee and work group initiatives

    o    Provide subject matter expertise in areas including project management, project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, and resource allocation

    o    Coordinate and complete projects across various functional areas

    o    Develop and manage comprehensive project plans; ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget

    ·         Prepare effective Power Point presentations that include a logical and compelling story arc and clearly articulate a point of view or recommendation; includes internal and external audiences

    ·         Participate in Plan, consultant, and employer meetings, as needed

    ·         Monitor and manage all aspects of responsibilities by organizing, planning, and tracking assigned tasks and activities in accordance with team priorities

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

    ·         Minimum of 5 years of employer healthcare consulting or management consulting environment required

    ·         Experience in managing projects involving multiple workstreams and stakeholders

    ·         Advanced Power Point skills and expertise in Excel and data visualization

    ·         Adept in the areas of research, data compilation/manipulation, and qualitative analysis

    ·         Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment with actuarial, technical, and business partners

    ·         Experience or familiarity with basic concepts of healthcare provider networks

    ·         Bachelor’s degree in related field required

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    ·         Position requires extensive phone and computer work

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

    ·         Position requires 10-20% regional and national travel annually
