  • Responsibilities

    Bay Country Contractors is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accountant to manage the financial operations of our civil construction projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of job costing, contract billing, financial reporting, and compliance across our operations in Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia. Responsibilities: • Manage all aspects of construction accounting, including job cost tracking, progress billing, and expense allocation. • Prepare monthly financial statements, WIP (Work in Progress) schedules, and budget-to-actual reports. • Coordinate billing cycles, including AIA pay applications, lien waivers, and change orders. • Track subcontractor and vendor payments, ensuring compliance with contracts and lien requirements. • Maintain general ledger accuracy and oversee month-end and year-end close processes. • Assist project managers with financial forecasting, cost tracking, and profitability analysis. • Monitor accounts receivable and payable related to construction projects. • Support annual audits, tax filings, and financial reviews in coordination with external accountants. • Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP standards, and industry best practices. • Maintain financial documentation and job files in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. • 3+ years of experience in construction accounting or project-based accounting. • Strong understanding of construction job costing, AIA billing, and WIP reporting. • Proficiency in construction accounting software such as Foundation. • Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills. • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines. • Familiarity with certified payroll, prevailing wage reporting, and state/local tax regulations is a plus. • Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional project teams. Compensation: $65,000 - $100,000 yearly
