    Construction Attorney – Design Professionals Practice

    New York, NY

    Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Attorney to join their growing New York office. This attorney will focus on representing architects, engineers, and other design professionals in connection with construction projects, contracts, risk management, and day-to-day legal counseling.

    The ideal candidate will have experience serving as trusted counsel to design professionals, advising on the negotiation and drafting of professional services agreements, construction contracts, project disputes, and business-related matters. We are particularly interested in attorneys who understand the unique legal and business issues facing architects, engineers, and construction industry clients. While the position is primarily advisory and transactional, experience handling construction litigation, professional liability matters, or design defect disputes is a plus.

    Responsibilities

    • Advise architects, engineers, and other design professionals on legal and business matters
    • Draft, review, and negotiate professional services agreements and construction-related contracts
    • Counsel clients on risk management, project delivery, and contract administration
    • Assist clients with dispute avoidance and resolution strategies
    • Provide practical day-to-day legal guidance throughout the lifecycle of construction and development projects
    • Support litigation and dispute matters when necessary

    Qualifications

    • 8+ years of experience in construction law
    • Experience with AIA contracts
    • Admission to practice in New York
    • Ability to serve as outside general counsel to sophisticated design and construction clients
    • Strong drafting, negotiation, and client counseling skills
    • Litigation experience is a plus but not required
