Construction Controller - Construction - Base Salary to 130k/year - Tallahassee, FL

• Our client is a construction and general contracting firm seeking a Construction Controller to oversee accounting operations, strengthen financial reporting, and develop scalable financial systems. This position supports construction project profitability, cash flow management, and continued business growth.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger (GL), bank reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Oversee construction project billing, progress billing, accounts receivable collections, and multi-project billing.
• Manage subcontractor and vendor payments, including lien waiver collection, retainage tracking, and payment documentation.
• Oversee construction job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, cost-to-complete reporting, and project profitability analysis.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts, weekly cash reports, and financial updates for executive leadership.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, financial forecasts, and key performance indicator (KPI) reports.
• Develop and implement accounting systems, financial reporting procedures, internal controls, and approval processes to support company growth.
• Coordinate payroll processing with an external payroll provider.
• Work with external CPAs on tax preparation, audits, and accounting requirements associated with additional legal entities.
• Manage banking relationships, lines of credit, loan covenants, and related financial reporting requirements.
• Build and lead the accounting team as business operations expand.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of accounting experience, including 5+ years in construction accounting.
• Experience supporting rapid company growth and scaling accounting operations, financial systems, and reporting processes.
• Experience developing and implementing accounting systems, internal controls, and financial reporting procedures.
• Construction job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, retainage accounting, and lien waiver management experience.
• Experience managing banking relationships, lines of credit, and financial covenants.
• Experience with QuickBooks accounting software.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 100k - 130k/year range
