    About the Position

    The Southwest Virginia Construction Coordinator oversees construction operations and field logistics for all programming in Southwest Virginia, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget while meeting funding and quality standards. This role manages subcontractor relationships, volunteer utilization, and material logistics, while supporting facility readiness, staff training, and grant compliance across the program. The Construction Coordinator works closely with ASP departments and community partners to advance long-term disaster recovery and residential rebuild efforts in the region. This is a full-time exempt position based in Jonesville, VA, reporting to the Southwest Virginia Regional Director.

    Job Responsibilities

    Program & Construction Operations

    Oversee construction operations and field logistics for the Southwest Virginia Hub, ensuring projects stay on schedule, on budget, and meet quality and funding standards.

    Plan and manage the overall project schedule, including disaster recovery projects.

    Approve field changes, change orders, and drawing modifications.

    Ensure code compliance and a safe working environment on all sites.

    Coordinate material orders/deliveries and maintain inventory control of tools and equipment.

    Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, vendors, and volunteers on timelines and needs.

    Schedule and oversee inspections.

    Prioritize volunteer labor; subcontract or complete in-house when volunteers aren't available.

    Build and maintain a catalog of qualified general contractors/subcontractors.

    Verify contractual requirements are met before work begins.

    Oversee subcontractor performance and confirm satisfactory completion before payment.

    Maintain required paperwork, photos, and records for each project.

    Support home selection, long-range planning, and staff delegation, with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and resource conservation.

    Represent ASP at community and partner events as needed.

    Facility & Program Management

    Help keep the Southwest Virginia Hub and Jonesville Center ready for construction operations, volunteers, and disaster response.

    Coordinate with other ASP departments to support fieldwork.

    Support planning and setup for local Summer Repair Program efforts.

    Support development of construction-related training for staff and community partners.

    Finance & Compliance

    Help ensure grant/funder reporting requirements are met.

    Build and expand partnerships with volunteers, donors, funders, and contractors.

    Review financial reports for accuracy and budget adherence.

    Maintain procurement procedures and competitive bidding.

    Assist with annual program budgeting.

    Code and submit construction invoices/receipts.

    Administrative

    Keep program procedure manuals up to date.

    Pursue relevant training opportunities.

    Participate in ongoing evaluation processes.

    Uphold ASP's mission, values, and budget guidelines.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    Willingness to work in a Christian environment

    Three (3) or more years of experience in construction management or similar role

    Experience with budget management for construction projects

    Knowledge of construction management process, construction materials, and related equipment

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues

    Willingness and ability to perform manual labor on the job when needed

    Highly organized, ability to plan ahead, attention to detail and ability to work well in a team

    Desired:

    Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field

    Experience in a home repair or nonprofit construction organization

    Experience in service delivery in service area (Southwest Virginia)

    Experience hauling trailers or operating small equipment such as a skid steer

    Other Requirements:

    Valid driver’s license and driving record that is acceptable to ASP’s insurer

    Regional travel is expected

    This role may require occasionally irregular hours

    Satisfactory results on a background check

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, ability to climb ladders, and to physically navigate active construction sites, which may include bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, and climbing. This position also requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
