    Senior Claims Specialist (Construction Defect) – Contract Role

    Pay Rate: $45–$50/hour

    Assignment Length: 3–6 months (with potential for extension)

    Location: Chicago, Atlanta, Omaha, Scottsdale, or Naperville. Remote option available for highly qualified candidates.

    Overview

    Our client, a specialty insurance carrier, is seeking an experienced Senior Claims Specialist to handle complex construction defect claims. This temporary role offers an opportunity to manage high-exposure and litigated files with autonomy and professional challenge.

    Responsibilities

    • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve litigated and non-litigated construction defect claims.
    • Analyze and interpret policy coverage; draft and review coverage correspondence.
    • Direct and manage defense counsel, including setting litigation strategy and budgets.
    • Establish and maintain accurate reserves, updating throughout the life of the claim.
    • Conduct thorough liability and damage assessments.
    • Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
    • Identify subrogation and risk transfer opportunities.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, licensing, and internal best practices.
    • Maintain detailed file documentation and meet all reporting requirements.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 8 years of claims handling experience, with significant expertise in construction defect or complex casualty claims.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
    • Advanced industry designations such as AIC, SCLA, CRIS preferred.
    • Strong written communication, analytical, and negotiation skills.
    • Must hold or be eligible to obtain active adjuster licenses in the following states: CA, CT, DE, FL, KY, LA, NH, NM, NC, OK, RI, SC, TX, VT, WV, and WY.
    • Ability to work independently and manage a remote caseload efficiently.
