Construction Estimator - Commercial Roofing and Sheet Metal - Base Salary to 130k/year - McHenry, IL

• Our client is a leading commercial roofing and sheet metal contractor with 45+ years of experience delivering large-scale re-roofing, waterproofing, and architectural metal projects across the region.
• They are seeking a Construction Estimator to lead project estimating and bid execution, with a strong focus on commercial/industrial roofing systems and client-facing bid follow-up.
  

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial roofing and sheet metal projects (re-roofing, new construction, waterproofing)
• Perform material takeoffs using software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Planswift, or Edge
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate proposals
• Conduct site visits to validate scope, access, and conditions
• Manage RFQs/RFPs and actively follow up on submitted bids
• Build relationships with general contractors, property managers, and building owners
• Collaborate with operations for project handoff post-award
• Attend pre-bid meetings and client presentations

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience with a commercial roofing contractor or sheet metal contractor
• Strong knowledge of roofing systems: TPO, EPDM, PVC, BUR, Modified Bitumen, Metal Roofing
• Experience using estimating/takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, OST, Edge, Planswift)
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Proven ability to support or close awarded work through bid follow-up

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 90k - 135k/year
