Position Summary
The Construction Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, managing crew members, and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and according to plans and specifications. This role is hands-on and requires strong leadership, communication, and construction knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and direct daily activities of field crew (laborers, operators, subs)
Read and interpret plans, specs, and NCDOT standards
Coordinate grading, drainage, erosion control, and structure work
Ensure work is performed to required quality and specifications
Maintain daily production goals and keep project on schedule
Communicate with Superintendent/PM on progress, delays, and needs
Complete daily reports, time tracking, and quantity tracking
Coordinate materials, deliveries, and equipment needs
Set grades, elevations, and layout as needed
Oversee traffic control setup and compliance
Enforce all safety policies and ensure crew follows PPE requirements
Qualifications
3–7+ years of construction experience (grading, roadway, or bridge work preferred)
Prior leadership or foreman experience strongly preferred
Ability to read plans and understand job specs
Knowledge of equipment operations (excavator, dozer, skid steer, etc.)
Strong communication and leadership skills
Valid driver’s license required (CDL is a plus)
Ability to work in outdoor conditions and lead by example
Work Conditions
Outdoor work in all weather conditions
Long hours, including early mornings and some weekends
Travel to multiple job sites
