Construction Laborer / Carpenter Helper

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and experienced Construction Laborer / Carpenter Helper to support our carpenters, field supervisors, and construction teams on residential and commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of construction experience, a strong work ethic, knowledge of basic construction practices, and the ability to safely assist with carpentry and general construction tasks.

This is a hands-on position requiring physical strength, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively in an active construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist carpenters with daily construction and installation tasks

Prepare and maintain job sites for daily work activities

Load, unload, move, stage, and organize materials, tools, and equipment

Assist with framing, drywall, doors, trim, millwork, and other carpentry tasks

Measure, cut, prepare, and handle construction materials as directed

Support carpenters and field supervisors with assigned projects

Operate basic hand and power tools safely and properly

Assist with deliveries and placement of materials throughout the job site

Perform daily site cleanup and maintain organized work areas

Assist skilled trades as needed

Follow instructions from carpenters, supervisors, and project management

Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and jobsite rules

Identify and report safety concerns or jobsite issues

Perform other general construction duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of construction experience

Previous experience assisting carpenters preferred

General knowledge of construction practices, tools, materials, and jobsite safety

Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools

Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

Dependable, hardworking, and safety-conscious

Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team

Ability to read and write effectively

Reliable transportation

Ability to lift and carry 50–100 pounds

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and work for extended periods

Ability to use hands, fingers, and arms to handle tools and materials

Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and elevated surfaces safely

Comfortable working on uneven surfaces and at heights

Adequate vision and hearing, with or without correction

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing. Candidates must be able to lift and carry 50–100 pounds for significant portions of the workday and safely work on ladders, elevated surfaces, and uneven terrain.
