We're seeking a Construction Materials Tester to join our quality assurance team in Kansas City, Missouri. This field-based role performs materials sampling, testing, and documentation across construction projects to ensure compliance with agency standards and project specifications. Training provided for entry-level candidates, with priority given to those holding ACI, NICET, or ASTM certifications.

Key Responsibilities — Construction Materials Tester
- Perform field sampling and coring of fill, foundations, pavements, and slabs at active construction sites
- Conduct materials testing for aggregate, asphalt, concrete, and fireproofing to verify compliance with project specifications
- Execute observation, documentation, and reporting for earthwork, geogrids, geotextiles, masonry, soil modification, and steel reinforcement
- Collect field data and complete daily inspection reports documenting construction activities and test results
- Support IBC special inspections and maintain proper documentation in accordance with AASHTO, ASTM, ACI, and USCOE standards
Qualifications — Construction Materials Tester
- Valid U.S. driver's license with clean driving record for travel to multiple job sites
- Strong attention to detail with ability to accurately document field observations and test data
- Basic understanding of construction processes and materials or willingness to learn through on-the-job training
- Reliable transportation and availability for standard day shift work in Kansas City metro area
- Ability to work independently in field environments and communicate effectively with project teams
Preferred Qualifications — Materials Testing Technician
- Previous experience in construction materials testing, field inspection, or quality control roles
- Active certifications: ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician, NICET Level I or II in Soils/Concrete/Asphalt, or ASTM testing certifications
- Familiarity with agency standards including AASHTO, ASTM, ACI, or state DOT requirements
- Experience with field testing equipment including nuclear density gauges, concrete cylinders, or aggregate sampling tools
- Knowledge of geotechnical testing procedures and IBC special inspection protocols
Physical Requirements — Construction Materials Tester
- Lift and carry testing equipment and samples up to 50 pounds regularly throughout work shift
- Stand and walk for extended periods on active construction sites with uneven terrain and varying weather conditions
- Work outdoors year-round exposed to heat, cold, dust, and inclement weather on job sites
- Travel daily to multiple construction sites within Kansas City metro area, occasionally requiring early starts or extended hours
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend while collecting field samples and conducting materials testing
