Overview
Client is launching two new original series designed to explore the forces shaping the construction industry and the people building the world around us. These shows expand on our flagship podcast The Power of Construction and are part of a broader strategy to create journalistic, story-driven content that lives across audio, video, and social platforms.
We're looking for an experienced podcast scriptwriter who can transform complex industry ideas and personal stories into compelling narrative episodes. This role is ideal for writers who enjoy explaining big ideas, shaping interviews, and crafting engaging narrative scripts.
Engagement
- Time: 20 hours/week for 3 months, with room to extend if needed
What You'll Do
You will work closely with the internal podcast team to develop scripts for short-form narrative and interview-driven episodes.
- Own scriptwriting for podcast episodes from story framing through final script delivery
- Structure episodes with strong narrative arcs, hooks, and transitions
- Translate research and expert insights into clear, engaging storytelling
- Write host narration, introductions, and closing reflections
- Research guests and develop interview frameworks and question guides
- Edit interview transcripts into cohesive narrative segments
- Collaborate with producers and editors to refine pacing, tone, and clarity
- Work cross-functionally with production, editorial, and social teams to ensure stories translate well across audio, video, and social formats
What You'll Bring
- At least 3 years of scriptwriting experience, ideally creating short-form video or podcast content for media brands or digital platforms.
- Strong story judgment and editing range — able to move from a promising question to a clear narrative structure, and from “interesting” to “compelling and useful.”
- Excellent storytelling instincts, with a strong sense for which moments hook an audience, evoke insight or emotion, and drive engagement.
- Enthusiasm for (and ideally familiarity with) the intersection of construction, technology, and the built world — with a genuine appetite for evidence-driven storytelling.
- Strong understanding of social and video platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn, including emerging formats and audience behavior.
- Ability to adapt tone and storytelling style for different audiences and show formats (e.g., explanatory, narrative, or interview-driven content).
- A portfolio of work demonstrating experience writing or producing podcast, video, or narrative digital media content.
