    Overview: -Read and interpret structural building drawings, applicable building codes, contract specifications, applicable standards and shop structural drawings; verify compliance with the aforementioned contract documents; and communicate effectively with Contractors, engineers, architects, and project management staff. -Documents daily progress of the work, prepare monthly progress payment request, track various changes, verify time and material work, measure and document job quantities. Documentation and information retrieval may require computer literacy skills. -Deputy Building Inspectors must have the ability to set priorities, the ability to make decisions and work effectively with minimal supervision, the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with LAWA stakeholders, contractors, construction workers, the public and must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

    Essential Job Duties

    Create and maintain comprehensive daily inspection reports that capture the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all construction work activities, while ensuring the reports are clear and concise to accurately reflect daily progress.

    Assist in reviewing monthly progress payment requests when assigned to a program.

    Track various changes, verify time and material work, measure, and document job quantities

    Conduct special inspections on various disciplines.

    Possess experience, knowledge, and understanding of methods used throughout construction.

    Possess valid Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) Deputy Licenses in the following disciplines:

    Concrete construction

    Steel construction

    Drilled-in anchors/seismic resistance

    Spray-applied fireproofing
