Job Summary
BlackHorse LLC is a growing residential and commercial general contracting company based in Brookfield, CT. We are seeking a versatile Construction Project Specialist to support estimating, project management, and client-facing sales functions.
This is a modified, hybrid role designed to flex around your strengths. You will be involved across the full project lifecycle—from early estimating and client conversations through active project oversight and closeout.
What You’ll Do
Estimating & Pre-Construction
Prepare cost estimates and budgets for residential and commercial projects
Perform takeoffs, scope reviews, and pricing analysis
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing
Assist with proposals, value engineering, and bid strategy
Project Oversight
Manage or support projects from contract through completion
Coordinate schedules, subcontractors, materials, and inspections
Track job costs, change orders, and progress billing
Help ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and to quality standards
Client & Sales Support
Meet with prospective clients to understand project scope and goals
Support closing projects and transitioning clients into construction
Maintain clear communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle
Assist with ongoing business development and repeat work

Qualifications
3+ years of experience in construction (estimating, project management, sales, or a combination)
Strong knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction
Ability to read plans, specifications, and contracts
Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through skills
Proficiency with estimating tools, Excel, and project tracking software
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to local job sites
Previous experience as an Estimator is preferred
Ability to forecast building costs and knowledge of estimation formulas
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Skilled in relevant software (Buildertrend, Bluebeam, Clearestimates)
Excellent research, writing, and negotiation skills
Nice to Have
General contractor experience
Knowledge of Connecticut building codes and permitting processes
Experience in both residential, commercial construction, and federal construction.
