Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Job Overview:
Wurster Construction is seeking an experienced and dedicated Construction Superintendent to join our dynamic construction team. This candidate will hit the ground running and will help us complete a three story Assisted-Living, Memory Care facility boasting approximately 100,000 square feet of space. This project is roughly 60% complete currently and needs a strong superintendent to finish the project by approximately May 2026. The ideal candidate will oversee and manage all aspects of field operations on assigned projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to coordinate various teams and subcontractors, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality results.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Project Manager to establish and adhere to the project schedule.
- Stay in close contact with the Project Manager via email, phone, & personal visits to check progress.
- Coordinate and supervise construction activities on-site, including scheduling and resource allocation.
- Schedule inspections as permit process requires.
- Proactively communicate any changes in the schedule with sense of urgency and ownership.
- Manage all aspects of complex construction projects in Healthcare / Hospital facilities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, ensuring that all work aligns with project specifications.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards throughout the construction process.
- Utilize construction management software (Procore, Sharepoint, & Teams) for project scheduling and job costing progress.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and team members to facilitate smooth operations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and address any issues that arise.
- Arrive at jobsite early to ensure site access and verify subs are arriving on time and performing efficiently and effectively.
- Get PM involved with any quality issues with subcontractors.
- Ensure materials are on site as needed and on schedule to avoid unnecessary production delays.
- Serve as peacekeeper among the trades as needed.
- Perform frequent safety walks, ensure all required safety notices are posted on the job site.
- Point out any violations of safety policies, reporting them to appropriate stakeholders.
- Communicate, respond, and assist Safety Consultant as required.
- Address and resolve any on-site disputes or emergencies that arise.
- Provide daily / weekly reports in the format used by the Project Manager.
- Sign T&M tickets when appropriate and send to Project Manager.
- Present a courteous and professional behavior and be a great reflection of our company whenever present on our job sites.
- Willingness to participate in company programs (training and engagement) when offered as your schedule allows.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent in a Healthcare environment or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality control processes and techniques.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding technical drawings.
- Familiarity with construction management software including Procore preferred.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to build effective teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- OSHA 30 Preferred.
- Understanding of safety regulations and Local Code is required.
- Proficient in basic computer skills & Microsoft Office suite preferred. Willing & capable of learning software tools if not yet proficient.
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Demonstrates basic mechanical ability
- Demonstrates proficiency in basic mathematics.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
