    A fast-growing media company seeks a Finance Manager to join their dynamic team. The Finance Manager reports to the VP Corporate Controller and is responsible for all aspects of the financial operations of the company business unit which is expected to be spun out into a separate public company. This position is also responsible for designing and implementing SOX procedures and controls, along with identifying and executing process improvements.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Track revenues and expenses at a podcast level and ensure complete and accurate recording in the project module and general ledger
    • Prepare monthly participation statements by podcast
    • Calculate and record sales commissions
    • Facilitate an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close of the general ledger and preparation of account reconciliations
    • Manage a staff who has responsibility for the aged receivable listing and ensure timely collection of balances
    • Approve vendor invoices and ensure accurate general ledger coding
    • Ensure all contracts including advertising and podcast host agreements are accounted for appropriately
    • Ensure proper accounting and operational policies and procedures are followed and adhere to our SOX control environment
    • Coordinate with external and internal auditors on quarterly reviews, annual audits
    • Deliver timely internal financial reporting including but not limited to budgets and forecasts, and gross margin analysis
    • Interact with company executive management on a weekly basis to support their operational strategy.
    • Manage and assist in the implementation of ERP and other company wide systems
    • Perform and direct special projects as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience in top-tier public accounting firms and/or public company environment (Big 4 preferred)
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
    • CPA preferred
    • Experience with participation statements
    • Experience managing accounts receivable
    • Extensive knowledge and experience with US GAAP
    • Broad financial, analytical, and business acumen and structured problem-solving skills
    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
    • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism
    • Established capacity to work well independently and as part of a team
    • Outstanding ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
    • Proven aptitude to meet tight deadlines and effectively adapt to changing priorities
    • Leadership experience in organizing, planning and executing projects
    • Intermediate to advanced MS Word and Excel
    • Prior experience operating in a SOX internal control environment
