Our client, a startup, law firm in Los Angeles is looking to hire a legal assistant to provide support to their legal and operations teams. The successful candidate will have administrative experience in a corporate environment, with some legal experience, and a positive and flexible attitude.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Type, format, and edit litigation documents
- Proofread copy for spelling, grammar, and content; makes appropriate changes
- Organize and prioritize large volumes of information
- Create, manage, and maintain electronic and hardcopy files
- Gather and retrieve information from files when needed
- Maintain attorney calendar; organize expense reports, plan and schedule meetings, teleconferences, and CLE classes; record and monitor deadlines
- Arrange for conference rooms and assist with scheduling conferences
- Provide administrative support (copy, scanning, faxing, etc.)
- Answer telephone, meet and greet clients as needed, respond to and assist clients, provide information and assuring appropriate follow-through and/or resolution
- Record attorney time, review, process, and finalize bills
- Occasionally transcribes dictation
- Handle all other administrative duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- 1-2 years of corporate administrative experience in legal
- College degree preferred
- Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with strong follow-through skills
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
- Flexibility to juggle moderate degree of multiple and changing priorities
- Resourcefulness (especially online) in executing projects
- Collaborative/teamwork attitude and skills a must
